Martha Stewart Takes a Tour of The Bastikiya with SMCCU

Martha Stewart on her visit to Dubai couldn’t miss a trip  to the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding to experience the tradtional Emriati neighborhood. On her Creekside Tour, she  took  a ride across the creek on the Abra to the Spice and Fabric Souq.  She checked out the many and unique spices traded in the old market and found the Fabric Souq fascinating.  Nasif Kayed, GM of the Centre along with other volunteers hosted her as she toured the old neighborhood and the Bastikiya Mosque, and tasted traditional coffee and dates at our Windtower House.  She had many questions from women’s traditional dress to the cultural practices of the people  in the UAE.
