The SMCCU celebrated the UAE’s 41st National Day by honoring the winners of the 2012 ‘Treasures of the UAE ‘ Art Competition with a day of festivities. The Event was in a traditional wind tower house in the historic Al Fahidi District along Dubai Creek. The winning participants entered art depicting famous historic sites throughout the UAE, and the contest was held as part of an initiative to educate the youth about these historic landmarks. Almost 1000 entries were received and the Centre was overwhelmed with the response from local schools. Tashkeel Gallery helped chose the winners from the more than 40 schools who participated; and winners were selected across all age groups. The winners and their families were honored at the event, and 24 artists were chosen to have their work placed in the 2013 Treasures of the UAE Calendar as well as receiving a cash prize. The competition was sponsored by the SMCCU along with out Platinum Sponsors HSBC & Nestle, and Gold Sponsors Pepsico, KidZArt, and Jones, Lang LaSalle. We would like to thank all of the Sponsors, staff and participants for making the event a success. After the ceremony, all guests enjoyed a traditional Emirati meal, followed by a tour of the historic trading village along Dubai Creek as well as a visit inside the Diwan Mosque.
